There is an amazingly easy way to make sure your older car stays in good condition throughout the year: Regular maintenance. When you bring your vehicle to us for regular oil changes, we get to know your vehicle the same way a dentist gets to know your teeth. When your car is up on the lift, we look at all the car's critical parts, such as the tires, exhaust, engine, and anything else we can see. We can see immediately if anything could be an issue down the road, and we will let you know what we find. We also keep track of the work we do on your car and let you know if you are due for regular maintenance you may not think or even know about. The simple act of bringing your car into our shop for regular oil changes shows you are serious about keeping your car in good condition. Oil changes are the single best thing you can do to keep your car running smoothly. With synthetic oil, newer cars may go longer between oil changes, so it is vital to remember to watch your mileage and keep track of when your last oil change was done. If you have an older car that doesn’t use synthetic oil, you will be bringing your vehicle in more frequently, allowing us to make sure the other systems in your car are also working well. With COVID, many people are not driving as much, so people think they can put off oil changes. Even if you put less mileage on your car, it is still important to keep up with your oil changes. The simple act of starting a car can be a jolt to the system, and if you are not driving that much, the oil is settling, which means it could take a precious few minutes for the oil to work its way through the entire engine. For that time, the oil and the engine are working harder and going through more of a strain than an engine that has been running regularly. When you bring your car in regularly, we get to know you and your car better. We understand how you drive, and we see the progression of the wear and tear that is put on a car. We will remember through our notes when you serviced your transmission or the last time you had a brake job. We can watch the tires and let you know how long it may be before you have to invest in new tires or how long before your brakes will need to be maintained. If we get the chance to watch these things and let you know about the upcoming work that will be needed, you will be better prepared than if you started the car one day and all of a sudden heard that tell-tale screech of the brakes signaling an expensive repair job. If you know about issues before they arise, it is possible that the work might not be as expensive. Save yourself time, money, and aggravation. Add years to the life of your car. Get your oil changed regularly, and let us get to know your car so we may better serve you.
