You will notice that many of the generators and snow blowers use the same gasoline that is used for your car. While these engines wouldn’t get your car moving very well, they do consist of a fuel supply, a constant engine speed regulator, or a governor, and a generator voltage regulator, cooling and exhaust systems, and lubrication system. Does all of that sound familiar?

It is the same thing for most fuel-power snow blowers. You might not think of your mechanic when it comes to these engines, the truth is that the technology is very similar and we take care of these things all of the time for our customers.

Long Island got hit pretty hard by a snowstorm last week and the area schools were closed for two days. Regardless of whether you listen to Punxsutawney Phil and Staten Island Chuck and believe there are 6 more weeks of winter, or not, winter is still here and can still pack a punch.

Water and ice are heavy, and even if there isn’t a lot of snow, when the temperature drops below freezing, ice accumulates on wires an cables and every year there are power outages related to cables that break due to the cold weather and ice. Power outages can happen at any time for almost any reason, so if your generator has not been started in a while or you are not sure if it will start when you need it, bring it to use and we can check it out and tune it up for you.

Remember that any engine that uses any type of fuel also has exhaust. Every year there are people who lose their lives due to the carbon monoxide created by generators. Do not use a portable generator in your home or your garage. They must remain outdoors.

If you are not sure if we can repair the generator, snowblower or any other type of engine you have, give us a call and we will let you know. We can be reached at 516.822.3671.
